Sad Ship News

My little bit of hope for SS France (SS Norway) to survive is over. Yesterday the Indian sort gave permission for the ship to be beached and broken today. It just amazes me that a ship that was sought after for cruises only a few years back is right this very moment being beached and destroyed. It's a sad day.

I never sailed on the SS Norway. I've sailed on many other NCL ships, but never the Norway. I always thought it was such a grand ship. It was an ocean liner formally the SS France. It had been purchased in the late 70's by NCL and was the first "big" cruise ship. It started the entire mega-liner craze. Today, it's scrap metal being torn apart on some Indian beach with blow torches. It's so very sad. Good bye Norway.
