Happy Canada Day Eve

Just in honor of that fact that whenever I browse the Internet from work it thinks I'm in Canada, I'm going to celebrate Canada Day today. I know it's July 1st, but that's a Saturday, and I won't be here to write about it, so get over it. IP mapping is fun, those of you who always check Statcounter and see some strange name from Canada, that's me. I'm not in Canada, but I do work for a Canadian company and something about our domain being hosted there makes it appear that we are also. Strange huh? I guess now if I do anything illegal on the Internet it becomes and international incident.

In other news, it's a 4 day weekend coming up. Everyone here took Monday as a holiday. I put up no fight against that.

More Ship News

I like old ships. I think the history and all about old ships is neat. Although unlike most people who study historic old ships, I prefer old ocean liners and cruise ships. Just for the record I've never watched Titanic.

Point is, the BLUE LADY (ex S.S. NORWAY, ex S.S. FRANCE) is headed to the breakers in India. They'll beach the ship and dismantle it for scrap. I don't want to see that happen. At one point it was the longest cruise ship in the world. It was the ship that started the mega-liner cruise ships. I understand that Norwegian Cruise Lines doesn't really have a use for it, and it's expensive to fix, but I do hope some last minute efforts to find it a home as a floating hotel work out.

What's My Topic?

I one again have the urge to write something. Problem is my mind is as blank as our cats when they are sleeping in a sun spot. If you've seen a cat totally sprawled out in the sun, then you understand they are just happy with out a worry in their mind. Must be nice, now I'm jealous.

I know for the most part that still no one reads much of what I write. A big day for this page is when it gets like 5 hits. I never really given that much thought. Mainly because I write this dribble for me, not for anyone else. Granted some birthday gift help for Sara would have been nice, but I'm not bitter. I did ok, just ask her. Anyway, being sweet and supportive as she is, she said that I do have some interesting stuff to say and ask if I'd like to write stuff on her Blog. She has like real readers and stuff like that. It's tempting, but then again, if she's wrong, and I suck, then that would be bad. Not that I have much doubt that most stuff I write is crap anyway, I just don't need it confirmed by more people.

Worse Than Locust

Sara doesn't think I made the Japanese Beetle sound as terrible as they really are. I thought referring to them as a Biblical pest pretty well covered it, but I guess not. They are pest, eating all the plants, and to me the worse thing, smelling horrible when they are dead. Thankfully Seven Dust does a nice job of killing them.

The Beetle Invasion

No, not the British kind. The bug kind. Every Summer in North Alabama everyone decorates their yards with plastic bags. They hang them from every tree, fence, post, or sign post. Nay just for cosmetics, they are meant to capture and kill the invaders. The hordes of bugs, very Biblical in nature, that swarm country side, eating every plant in site, the dreaded Japanese Beetle.

New Day, New Cup

I have now moved on to my Street Glow Auto Neon cup. I'm sure the entire world was waiting to hear that.

Bad Start to a Tuesday

It's a sad day when it starts with a broken coffee cup. Not just any coffee cup, but my orange, from the 70's, copy of the one from Seinfeld, coffee cup. I've never been a huge Seinfeld fan, but I thought having the cup from the show was cool. Plus my cup was really from the 70's. It was one that somehow missed being tossed from parents house years ago. It was so dated, it was with the dishes and things my mother packed with me to take to college. Everyone knows the quality of those items.

Ok, enough dribble over a coffee cup, but I do miss it. Good bye.

Pass the What?

Things said while eating dinner:

Me: Pass the salt and pepper.

Co-worker: Here's the salt.

Me: Can I have the pepper also?

Co-worker: I can't find the pepper. (said while moving the pepper mill on the table out of the way to look for pepper.

Me: Never mind, just hand me the brown thing in your hand, I'll use that.

DIY

How cheap are you? This cheap?

6-6-6

To think after listening to the radio this morning talk about the significance of tomorrow being 6-6-06. Who knew it was a great day. The 5th season of Charmed comes out on DVD. How can you top that?

There were some cool facts this morning. Like all the numbers on a roulette wheel add up to 666. I haven't had the free time to verify that, but I'll believe it. It also seems that when letters are represented by numbers, Nero translates into 666. That makes sense.

Lots of other cool stuff, but before come Christian Fundamentalist decides to burn my page, I'll stop now.

My Garage Once Again Holds 3 Cars

It was a busy weekend, but once again, we are able to get all 3 cars in the garage. The mountain of mini-storage boxes has been moved. I am amazed. We finished with all that pretty much on Saturday. That's at least 2 or 3 years ahead of what I thought it would actually take. Lots of the boxes moved into one of the spare bedrooms to be sorted through, but I don't think finishing that will be as bad as I thought.

Boxes 101

I think I'm developing an irrational fear of cardboard. In particular, a fear of cardboard boxes, packed with items. After moving last fall, then moving last winter, now moving my office this spring, I'm beginning to fear boxes. I could never work for UPS.

On the upside the week is almost over and I can get away from the boxes here at work, and start on the boxes still in my garage. Does it ever end?
