Football Friday

It seems like only 2 short weeks ago I was posting about a football game. Oh, wait, that was two weeks ago. This not being in the office has really cut into my posting. My Gators are still unbeaten and playing Alabama today. They are favored over Alabama, they were favored last year also. We won't talk about that game.

Has any one besides me ever noticed that every older Volvo has a brake light or tail light out?

Time to Post and Football Games

Due to a party Saturday night I was unable to see the Florida Tennessee game, but rest assured on the way home, we searched the XM radio dial until we found the score. As close as it sounds, I might be glad I didn't see it. No sense eating my fingernails for no reason. I'm just thrilled they won.

As I only have a few minutes to write anything, this will have to do, hopefully time will permit more soon.

No Internet, No Problem

As I am still exiled at NASA with no Internet access, my beloved and brilliant blog has been neglected. Is brilliant and beloved stretching it bit?
Today is a nice day, makes me think the hot summer might be coming to an end. It's a cool day with a nice steady light rain. Makes me feel old that I'm so thrilled about the rain. It means I can turn off my sprinklers and hopefully save a buck or two on the water bill. I'm looking forward to fall and some cooler weather. I hate the shorter days, but I'm ok with it not being near 100 degrees all day long.
In world news yesterday was September 11th. I'm reluctant to even make comment. All of the media outlets have covered it in such detail, I'm not even sure there is much more that can be said. Are we safer? I don't know. I know the terrorist have released a video promising more attacks every few months for the past 5 years, yet there have been no more attacks. Does that mean they are only making hollow promises, or does that mean we have been successful in stopping new attacks? I don't know the answer to that either.
In much happier news, football season is here. I am once again rooting for my Gators and Dolphins. The Dolphins got off to a bad start. I'm hoping the 2 interceptions at the end of the game are not a sign of things to come. The Gators started off slow, but looked very good last week. Although the real season starts now. Florida plays Tennessee in Knoxville. Last year Tennessee beat Florida, then pretty much managed to lose to everyone else. They've already beat California, who didn't deserve to be ranked that high, but then struggled with Air Force. I'm not sure how good of a team they have. Florida is also a bit of a mystery still. Neither of there games have been televised, and all I've seen are a few short articles talking about them. I'm anxious to see how things go.

Touching A Saturn

I had a close encounter with Saturn today, not the plant, and not a car, but rather some parts of the Saturn IV rocket program. While looking in one of the control rooms at NASA for some hardware, I walked into a room full of racks of test equipment. It looked like a scene from Apollo 13, and for good reason, it was all equipment used to test the Saturn IV rocket used to send Apollo 13 (and all moon missions) into space.

It was awe inspiring to be there with equipment that had played such a major part in putting a man on the moon. The amazing part, is these large hydraulic stands are still used today to test parts of the shuttle.

Once again I'm having one of those days where parts of my job are actually pretty cool. I spent today working on parts of the shuttle and a little bit with the thruster I've been working on. Before you ask, no I had nothing to do with the shuttle not launching today.
