Sometimes I Amuse Myself

Morning E-mail:

Sara - Want to go to the football game tonight?

Me - Sure, but it will be cold. I'm brining a blanket, and no not Michael Jackson's kid.

It's Finally Friday

It's Friday, and thankfully I am feeling a little better than I did yesterday. I've managed not to spill coffee, I remembered my badge, so all in all, the day is off to a much better start. Funny, apparently I should fear Thursday the 12th more than Friday the 13th. Guess I just have to be early for everything, including bad luck.

I'm hoping for good luck tomorrow. I need Florida to beat Auburn. Mainly because I don't want to have to listen to the Auburn fans gloat, but that's just me.

Winter showed up today. I know we didn't get snow like New York, but is was cold this morning. I think it was 39 degrees in my back yard. I do believe this weekend may be my last grass cutting of the year.

Waaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh

It's a rough morning.

It's cold.
I've had a splitting headache since 6 AM.
I had to stop on my into work and buy food for the classroom.
My credit card would not swipe at the grocery store.
I forgot my badge to get in my office.
I need to buy gas for my car.
I spilled dry coffee on myself, the table, and all in cabinet.
The lesson I'm teaching today is all talking and my throat hurts.

I should have stayed in bed.

Busy Times

Life is still busy. I'm at least in the office this week. I'm teaching class today. Could be worse, they seem like a good group, so it should not be bad.

We are planning a Halloween party for the end of the month. We wanted a house warming, but were too busy, we then wanted a summer BBQ, but were too busy, so now we are having a Halloween party, even though we are too busy.

We've already started preparing. We pressure washed the patio yesterday. I think red clay could be used as a coating for the space shuttle because even the pressure washer had a hard time getting it of the patio. It's nice though not having that lovely orange patio out the back door. Next the driveway and front sidewalk. Does the fun ever end?

Hopefully starting this far out will let us get everything ready for a great party. We already have several guest who have RSVP'd. Now I must find a costume. I thought about going as a Gator football player, I'm sure all the Tennessee and Alabama fans can not think of anything scarier.

Old and New

Sara and I spent the weekend at my parents house in Florida for a family reunion. It was a side of the family I don't know. It was mostly relatives of my grandfather who died earlier this year. It was strange to sit in a room of people that you are related to and not know many of them.

I kept finding myself listening in on conversations about how the Interstate has ruined family visits and who alive and who died when. All in all sort of depressing conversation, but I guess that's the sort of thing people talk about when they get together with relatives they don't know that well.

It's still strange to go home to my parents house. I grew up there for 18 years of my life, yet it doesn't really feel like home anymore. That could be because they've painted, ripped out a wall and lots of other things, but still, it's strange going home.

I also got to notice how North Florida is much more tropical than it was when I lived there. I'm not talking about global warming, just the general trend of more people to plant tropical plants. I know this is a shock to people, but before people, the state of Florida was not covered in Palm trees. Native trees tend much more toward Live Oaks, which do stay green all year, so they are tropical, but they are never going to make a coconut.

It's A Great Day to be a Gator

Sorry to all Alabama fans, but it was a great game. I am sure not going to say anything bad about Alabama football, other than a couple of interceptions, it was a close game. I'm just thrilled Florida managed to win. Hopefully I can say the same thing next weekend after the LSU game.

I've been so busy lately that I have not had time to write much here. You would think that with being busy I'd have more stuff going on in my life and some interesting stuff to write about. You'd be wrong, but I think it should work that way.

Let's see, stuff to catch up on. I think we are planning on a Halloween party this year. Something nice and scary. I placed a tomb stone in the front flower bed this morning just to get ready. Is it wrong to place tomb stones where the sprinklers water them? Is that like watering your dead? I digress.

I think a Halloween party will be fun.

I'm also still looking forward to our trip to Hawaii. I'm not looking forward to the flight. It's a long flight from Nashville to Hawaii. I don't think I have batteries for the DVD player that will last that long. I may have to resort to reading. How scary is that. Do books need batteries now days?
