Like the Monkey Touching the Monolith

I have nothing to post about, but Sara wants my laptop so she can shop and I'm being a pain. Well, that and I heard the title of this post on TV an since it mentions monkeys and a monolith, I wanted to use it before I forgot it. I'm not even sure what it means, but it sounds really cool. Perhaps a good name for a blog.

She still wants my laptop to shop. Furniture I would guess, perhaps Christmas presents, but I'm betting on furniture. We still need to buy a dining room table. Finding the right one of those for a price less than a new car is proving to be a challenge. If anyone has a nice seating for 8, solid wood, elegant, and worth a fortune dining room suite they would like to donate, please let me know. I'm ok with free, I'm not that picky.

Should I give her laptop? Survey says?

She hit me, I'm still typing.

Shame I'm not more interesting, it would make this reading much more fun.

She won't even tell me what she wants to shop for.

I was right, furniture and Christmas gifts. Speaking of Christmas, what do I want? Any suggestions?

It's a Sad Time When I Must Post at Night

Normally I find a few minutes in the morning for a quick post. I write a few silly words as my 150 daily spam emails download and I make coffee. This week, as my loyal readers will note I have not been doing that. I've been that busy. I don't have the silly 5 minutes a post requires in the morning. I think that means work is good. If not good, at least busy.

I've spent all day today in a design review. As Sara would say, "blah, blah, blah, nerd word, nerd word." It was just one of those days, but I survived. I even managed to impress others with the way I dealt with a difficult customer.

Monday Night Musings

I've been wanting to find a few minutes to update this all day. I've had no time. Right now I'm sitting on my couch watching Sara decorate our Christmas tree. I'm basking in the warmth of all the lights. She likes a bright tree.

All day I've been wanting to say how much I enjoyed to FSU - Florida game. I wasn't sure the Gators would win, but win big they did. I didn't go to Florida. I went to school in Alabama, but I grew up in Florida, just to the West of Tallahassee. Those of you who know much about Florida will know that FSU is in Tallahassee. That always begs the question, if you grew up so close to FSU why are you a Florida fan? I usually say growing up surrounded by FSU fans is the reason I'm a Florida fan.

So, the 34 to 7 blow out made my weekend. Add to that the lowly Dolphins managed to win a game, and I had a good weekend.

In other news, wait I have no other news. Bummer.

They Must Be Joking

Ok get this, yesterday's horoscope says I should expect a great night, fortune and love are coming my way. It was an average night and the bank account is the same as the day before. Today's outlook says I will have financial worries. What kind of yo-yo ride am I on? Rich one day broke the next? Am I trading junk bonds in the 80's? Not that the alignment of the plants has ever meant a thing in the world to me other than the tides, I'd at least like a little consistency in the predictions and not so much up and down.

In other news, wait, I have no other news. The house is still progressing, we have a yard, dead as it may be. We have parts of a fence that I hope they've moved to the right place and work continues on the inside.

Some Outlook for a Rainy Day

Pisces
February 18 - March 19

Something wonderful could happen to you today while you're at home, dear Pisces. A lover could declare eternal devotion; spiritual revelations could come thick and fast; great news regarding career and/or money matters might be just over the horizon. Whatever comes is apt to bring happiness into your home for all concerned. You may pinch yourself to make sure you're awake! Relax and enjoy it. You have it coming, and it's there to be savored.

Let's hope this one is as accurate as the one predicting boredom in traffic.

Attention Shoppers

Overheard on the PA system while furniture shopping yesterday, "Whoever has the Hooker price list please bring it to the front."

Today's Forecast?

My horoscope for today:

Pisces
February 18 - March 19

Short trips in your neighborhood may be rendered nearly impossible today by factors above and beyond your control, such as traffic, construction, or both, dear Pisces. If you have errands to run, put them off. Or if you can, walk or ride a bicycle to run them. If you must go in the car, however, make sure you have your favorite music with you so you can do something while waiting in traffic. Otherwise you'll go crazy with boredom.

I'm not certain how much faith I'm going to put into my horoscope. Yesterday it was very specific and said I would be troubled by the departure of a young co-worker. As far as I know all young co-workers are still alive and working. So, the brave prediction today that I will be bored in traffic doesn't really shock me.

Oh Yes, I'm Supposed to Update This Thing

As always I don't have time to make an update, but I'm waiting on some code to compile, and that takes most of my computer resources, so I might as well do something useful. Something useful, like update this thing.

It looks as though they have carpet down in our new house. I'm not sure it was dark and there is still no light in the house. It's hard to go check out the progress when it's dark when I get off work. I'm not sure I want to take a flash light and snoop around outside either. Just my luck I'll get arrested as a cat burglar. Cat burglar, do lots of people take cats? I hope not.

Happy Saturday

It's a rare weekend post. I've noticed most pages are updated rather slowly on the weekend. I guess people have things to do, and less time to waste than when they are at work and should be working.

I'm feeling much better. I'm still a bit stuffed up, but I am doing better. Antibiotics are my friend. Thursday was not a good day at all, sore throat, headache, and a little dizzy, I was ready to curl up and die.

Let's see, I have lots of updates I should make. October 28th we sold our house. I don't feel like I thought I would feel. After all the drama and pain with Stan, I'm just glad the house is sold and it's all over. I am still in shock that I never heard from Stan again. Don't get me wrong, I'm very thankful for that, but I'm surprised at my luck. It was an older couple that bought our house. I'm happy for them and I think they will enjoy it.

We also have an updated and firm closing date on our new house. It's going to be December 23rd. What a Christmas present huh? A new house for the holidays. Anyone wanting to spend Christmas moving boxes and carrying heavy things, please let me know. I have a great opportunity for you to do just that.

In other news, I work for a new company. No I didn't change jobs, just companies. My company has been bought by another company. It's interesting. There are now new opportunities for me, things like that. I'm still waiting to see exactly what all is involved with the change, but so far, so good and I think there are more good things to come.

In more other news, as you've read from Sara's page we went on a cruise to the Eastern Caribbean. That was lots of fun. We went snorkeling in St. Marteen, sailing on a pirate ship in St. Thomas, plus lots of other things in the Bahamas. It was a good trip. Then we returned to Miami to her dads house to enjoy hurricane Wilma. That was fun, 120 MPH winds, trees down, waves hitting the back of the house, trees down in the yard and across the road. I can say that the hurricane was not as relaxing as the cruise. It was interesting to basically camp in the house for a few days because we had no electricity. I must mention how much I do love hot water. Cold showers are no fun at all. Even in South Florida, a cold shower is still cold and is not fun. I think the cold showers might have explained an earlier paragraph where I was explaining how sick I've been feeling. Probably not, but it makes a good story.

Still Alive

Despite a vacation, a cruise, a hurricane, and a design review, I am still alive. I have much to post about. The company I'm working for getting purchased, our old house selling, our new house getting closer to completed, and the vacation. So many, things, but such little time. Hopefully I will have some time soon.
