What's That Sound

It started last week, this strange little buzzing sound from the kitchen. Sara and I both looked and listened, it sounded like a buzzer, just loud enough to be heard and to be annoying.

The house is just barely a year old, it's a little soon for it to be haunted and develop mystery noises like that. To be it sounded like something in the kitchen. Maybe the microwave had blown something or the oven was just on the fritz and making funny noises, but every time I listened closely to them I heard nothing. Sara thought it was coming from the attic, maybe it was one of the attic fans making a funny noise. So, up in the attic I went, not a noise to be heard.

Me, being the piratical engineer that I am, figured it had to be an electrical noise. I thought maybe it was something with the surround sound or the television, but no. It was much louder in the kitchen. So, now not only did I have a mystery noise, I had a mystery noise that could throw its voice.

Putting my electrical engineering degree to use, I thought I'd just turn off the breakers in the house until I found the one that stopped the noise and thus narrowing down where the noise could be coming from. One by I turned them off with Sara in the house listening. Finally I turned them all off and came back in the house. I still heard the noise.

Now I'm thinking gas leak, that has to be it. There was no electricity on in the house, so it had to be gas hissing at either the stove or the fireplace. I listened and listened, not a sound from either, but I could still hear the noise.

Smoke alarms, it must be the smoke alarms, they are battery powered and they must be making the noise. Wait, there's no smoke alarm anywhere around the kitchen. That's a good thing when I cook sometimes.

I then begin digging through the cabinets, determined to find the secret CIA bugging device that must have shorted out in the house and is making the noise. Well, begin digging after turning back on the power to the house, I did want the air conditioning.

Finally, after emptying the drawers, buried in the back of the desk in the kitchen, I find Sara's handheld Sudoku game, buzzing.

Batteries removed, problem solved, sanity, only slightly diminished.

Goobye Ladies

I know this is sad, but what prompted me to post was the last episode of Gilmore Girls last night. I liked that show. It sort of ended abruptly. Charmed was at least given a very good send off episode. Gilmore Girls had more of a good season ending episode, not a series ending one. I now officially have no reason to ever watch the CW network again. First they got rid of Charmed, now Gilmore Girls. I'm done with them.

Nothing New

I have nothing to say, I'm just posting out of some strange sense of duty to continue doing updates. Odd the things we choose to serve.

I'm glad it's Friday. It's been a long week, but some strange reason I can not say in particular why, it's just been long. I had the thought that in a week and a few days we will know what junior is. I'm still not sure if I want boy or girl. I mean that, I just want healthy. I think I'm perfectly happy with either. I'm also feeling better since I think we've been able to finally find some names for both. I was convinced for a while there that if it was a boy he would just have to answer to "Hey you".

Save the Earth

First off, let clear up one thing from the last post. I'm going around hugging treas screaming save the earth, far from it.

I am however really pissed off by hypocrites who will tell you to do one thing, then do the opposite themselves. Sad to say, but that applies to most every celebrity jumping on the save the earth bandwagon.

For example, Leonardo DiCaprio drives a Prius, then chain smokes just to add more pollution to the air.

Al Gore drives a Prius to a rally, followed by a motorcade of several large SUV's. I'm sure he could have ridden in one of them and saved taking the Prius at all.

Madonna gives a concert for global warming, which requires multiple trailer trucks to carry everything for the show.

Anyone see the flaw?

Is It How In Here Or Is It Just Them?

I have a news article that's been bothering me. Whenever the last Democratic debate was each candidate chartered there own private jet to fly from Washington DC to South Carolina. Not one flew commercial, or shared planes. They each paid for a private jet, then stood up in front of the American people to talk about waste in government and global warming. Anyone see the flaw with that? Gore's elaborate energy wasting home in Tennessee is well documented, guess the same can be said for the rest of these champions of the earth.
