Closed Underpasses

Let me tell you a little story about a 3 hour tour. A tour that took much longer than expected. No, I didn't end up on an island with an interesting cast of characters, I'm sure there were interesting characters, I just had no intention of stopping to talk to them. It all started with a detour sign. Wait, no, it really started because of a missing detour sign.

Let me first explain the little town of Gasden, Alabama. It's a nifty little place. Every town in America should take cues from Gasden and have its major 4 lane road through town make 2 right angle turns and go under a train overpass. The fun of my story starts because that underpass was closed. I don't know why, but it was. So they had a detour around town. Sounds simple follow the signs, get to where I want to go. Right? Right.

Well I followed the detour, until I ran out of signs. I had a lovely tour of the country side. Pretty trees, Kudzu, flowers, junk yards, race fans, and no street sign that made any sense. I've never had such serious thoughts about paying for the on-star service in my truck as I did yesterday. Thanks to wonderful directions from my loving wife I made it to my destination. Not the exact trip I had planned on taking, but I made it.

I looked on the way back, taking the detour in reverse, and I see where I should have turned, would have been great to have a sign. Off to work I go, lots to do.

A New Blog Toy

I continue to find interesting things about blogging. While clicking through on an add on Matt's Blog, I found something interesting and signed up for it. It's where I get to recommend products, and display them on my blog. I talk about the stuff, you click on the stuff, buy the stuff, and I make money. It sounds really cool huh? You get stuff, I get money. Not that I think it will ever happen, but I did take it as a good way to give me a few interesting things to talk about on my blog. The first being our latest Game Cube game, The Legend of Zelda and the Four Swords. It's a multiplayer game for the Game Cube. 4 of us were playing at the same time, and with the ability to pick each other up, carry one another across screen, hit each other with boomerangs, it was lots of fun. If you like Zedla, and wanted to try it as a multiplayer game, this is the way to go.

We also have a new XBox. Such fun. And with Dance Dance Revolution, I think it should turn into a home gym. It's a great game, lots of fun, good music, and great exercise. Do be careful of the fact you may pass out while playing, but hey, that's what makes it fun.

So, I'm gonna try this me recommending things, we'll see how it works. Who know, it might be great, or it might be gone tomorrow. We'll just have to see.

A Blog to Say I Blogged

I'm too tired to blog. I'll be amazed if this post comes out coherent at all. Sara is playing video games, I gave up and surrendered that Windows is far tougher than I am when it comes to upgrading certain computer components. I wanted to do a minor computer upgrade, but Windows decided that it didn't want to play with the new components, and frankly, the slight increase was not worth the fight of making it happen, so I let Windows win.

I guess the fact I'm posting this is triumph to the fact that Windows didn't win, we sort of came to a draw. I agreed to leave the old equipment in the computer, and it agreed to work. I think it sounds like a fair deal to me.

That's all. Good night.

Mmmm Coffee

Coffee has a good effect on me. Unlike Matt who coffee wakes up, or Sara who coffee keeps up at night, it has a nice relaxing calming effect that can greatly improve me day. There is some irony with the cup I am currently enjoying. I find it funny that I am drinking coffee after just returning from the dentist having my teeth cleaned. I get the feeling they would not approve, but, seeing as how I don't have to see them again for 6 months, it is all good. My morning has been rough, and very long to say the least and it's not even lunch. I had to take a short break, enjoy my coffee, and regroup before launching into my next fun task.

A Nickel

A Nickel, a whole 5 cents. I made a nickel yesterday because of this blog. I only have to make 1999 more nickels and they send me a check. Cool huh? I know, it seems silly to even care, but that fact that someone one read my blog is odd enough. The fact that someone else is willing to give me a nickel because someone else read my blog is amazing. It blows my mind to say the least.

Bad Sports Time

It's been bad sports for me lately.

Football and bowling. One watching, one playing, both sucking.

We'll start easy, bowling tonight. 0 and 4. Yep, we lost all 3, by several, several pins. We came close on the last game, and I managed a 164, which is above my average, but still we lost. That's ok, we lost fair and square, and took our beating pretty well. The team we lost to, is good, very good, and I can see why they are in first place. They deserve to be. Still, I'd like to have at least taken one from them, maybe next time.

Now, on to football. We even talk about pro, where my poor Dolphins are 0 and 2, no running game, and 2 quarter backs that I think throw even numbers of receptions to interceptions. So, I've sworn off pro football for the year.

On to college, where to Gators were to be my shining spot this year. They played great against Tennessee. I'll even admit Tennessee played very well, and both teams could have won the game. The problem that has me swearing off college football this year is not a team, a player, or even a coach, it's the refs.

Florida lost the Outback bowl last year to Iowa fair and square. I can handle that, they got out played and beat. Florida lost to FSU last in part due to some very bad calls by ACC refs that kept the game close when it should not have been.

Florida lost to Tennessee in large part to 2 big mistakes by the refs. One, a time keeping error that gave Tennessee more time to drive down the field and score. I could forgive this mistake, it sounds innocent. The referee I want hung up by his eye lids in the one who watched the Tennessee player hit a Florida player in the face, then watched the Florida player hit him back, and only called a penalty on the Florida player to get Tennessee 15 yards closer for their winning field goal. I miss the fairness in that.

I don't make to take anything away from Tennessee, they played a good game, and I would have been ok with them beating Florida fairly. This however, is 2 out of the last 3 losses due to the Zebras and that is enough to make me give up college football this year. I've had enough. I'm tired of the cheating.

Enough venting. Enough football.

Morning E-mail

This morning in my email I found a letter from Bill Heard Chevrolet asking me to please respond. I had used GM's Buy Power site to ask for vehicle quotes for my wifes new car. They ask where they came up short. Below is my response to them. What do you think?

Mr. Henderson,

Bill Heard came up short on several items when I was looking for a new Tahoe. First, and foremost, I used the GM Buy Power web site to receive a price quote from 3 dealerships. Only 1 responded with a price. It was not Bill Heard. Bill Heard continued to call my home several times even though I listed my preferred contact method as email. I did this because I was out of town for work at the time and could only receive email.

Second, I inquired on your web site about your Tahoe inventory. It listed several vehicles, but listed them all as LS models. I could plainly see that several of them had to be LT models, but I could not be for sure which ones were well equipped LS's or base LT's. I used the chat feature on your web site to speak to salesperson, and inquired about which vehicles were LT's. They told me I'd have to come in and see. If I had the time to come in and see, I wouldn't have been wasting my time on your web site.

The only dealer to respond with a price as requested was Lynn Layton in Decatur. Simply put, I bought an 04 Tahoe, from the only dealer that would tell me what inventory they had, and how much it cost. It's a shame Bill Heard could not do the same.

Bad Day

Here we are waiting on a disaster. Bad things are going to happen today. Things destroyed, lots of hard work for nothing. I have the feeling it is going to be a very rough, very long day. I'm not sure I'll be very happy at the end of it.

There is also hurricane Ivan heading for us, but I don't think it will be as bad as the design review today.

Such Little Time

I have no time to make this post. I have no time at the moment for anything. Work has me a little busy, but in order to supports Matt's Blog Support Group, I think I should. Not that I have anything of value to say. Come to think of it, does any blog really have anything of value to say? I doubt it. Moving along, hopefully I'll have more time for a better post soon. I truly hope so. Although if I have more time, I'll probably take a nap. Mmmmm nap.

A Question

This post is a test. A test to see if Matt is working on his presentaion, or wasting time doing silly things such as reading my blog. I'm sure both are equally entertaining. Perhaps not.

I can write

Despite the properly held belief by my wife and others, that I do not read unless forced by an 8th grade English teacher, (and then only Cliff Notes) I do have the ability to write. My prose will never reach the level of anything thought of as decent by your average 5 year old, but hey, just to do the unexpected, and actually write something, let alone publish it for others to read should strike fear and terror into the hearts of millions. Ok, perhaps mild amusement and the rolling of eyes by 2, possibly 3 persons at most, but you follow my point.

I can say that anyone does read this, besides the few who know me, this is definitely going to be a Seinfeld type blog, a blog about nothing to say the least. Ok, real work to do, such fun. Oh and to the two of you who are going to read this, yes, I used the spell checker.
